Python & the Web

▶ Do the exercises
Exercise 1 — APIs
An API (Application Programming Interface) is a way for your program to talk to other services on the internet. Want to get the weather, translate text, or fetch data? You use an API. Python makes it super easy with the `requests` library. You send a request, you get data back — usually in JSON format (which is just like a Python dictionary!).
Popular free APIs to try
OpenWeatherMap (weather), PokéAPI (Pokémon data), JSONPlaceholder (test data), NASA API (space photos).
Exercise 2 — Web Development
Python can power entire websites! Instagram, Spotify, Netflix, Pinterest — all use Python on the backend. Two main frameworks: - Flask — lightweight, simple, perfect for small projects and APIs - Django — full-featured, comes with everything built-in (auth, admin panel, database), used by Instagram
Exercise 3 — Where to start?
To get started: learn HTML/CSS basics first (check the Web course in this app!), then try Flask. Build something small — a personal blog, a to-do app — and grow from there!
